I'm shocked at the time that has passed since I last posted here. I'ver been thinking more about the nature of time lately. It seems that the more time we have under our belts, the faster it seems to slip through our fingers. And the more desperate we feel to make it count.
I hope to make this an opening salvo in a re-boot of this painfully neglected blog. This mission statement is life in general, although instead of calling this place Jackee's Corner, I may as well call it Jackee's Garden (or Jackee's Jungle) as the case is these days. I've been absorbed in painfully amatuerish attempts to grow vegetables and herbs over the past few years. (By the way, anyone have any insight as to why a package labeled "bush beans" is vining all over all over my raised beds?)
Writing may ensue as well, in bits and pieces. For any who may be curious as to the status of a couple of stories, those loose ends will be tied up. In time.

Yay. . . another chapter.
I thought I'd never finish the story, I'm sure some of you did, too. But finally, a new part has been added to "My Brother's Keeper". It's so near done, I just need to finish it. Just a few more chapters should tie it up. Thanks to all who have waited so patiently!

Nanowrimo??
Anyone doing this this year? I'd thought about it last year, but I've decided that the only way I'm ever going to find time to write is to take time to write! So, I'm taking the plunge and giving myself some good old fashioned deadlines so I can get some stories finished and finally working on the ones waiting ever-so-impatiently in the wings of my brain.
For anyone who doesn't know what this is. Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Check out http://www.nanowrimo.org for more information.

I've been following this very interesting story - curious as to how it will all turn out.

My Brother's Keeper Update!
Finally, at long last and a week late – here’s the update for My Brother’s Keeper. Life got a little busy there. We’re very close to the end of this one, and I’m going to apologize right up front – this chapter ends with a cliff hanger. No promises – but I’ll try to have the next chapter up before the week is out. Do let me know what you think!

New Story
I’ve added a new story to the fiction section. It’s titled By Arrangement. I’m not abandoning My Brother’s Keeper nor Unfinished Business, this is just a little something that I already had written and in progress and wanted to add to the page. Click on the Original Fiction link to the right, and then follow the link to By Arrangement.
A new section for My Brother’s Keeper is currently under way, to be followed by an additional chapter of Unfinished Business but won’t be ready to post before the weekend is over. So, check back tomorrow for more of My Brother’s Keeper. Check back next weekend for more Unfinished Business. In the meantime, I hope By Arrangement piques your interest.

Whats Scary
What’s Scary?
This is probably a strange question – but it’s based on a dream I had recently. I was standing in a parking lot that had a very clear veiw of the Interstate. Cars, trucks and an inordinate number of charter buses were whizzing by at too fast a speed (as usual). I found myself cringing every time a vehicle waited too long to apply brakes and slow down. Each time, the drivers barely escaped rear-ending the vehicle in front of them.
I found the entire situation stressful, made worse by the lack of care or interest by those who were with me.
Then, suddenly, one charter bus slammed into the back of an 18 wheeler and exploded, followed immediately by another bus slamming into the back of that one and so on and so on until the wreckage and fireball began to grow outward, approaching our little parking lot. We began to run away to escape the blast.
It was all quite terrifying, made even more so by my feeling of utter helplessness. This dream so disturbed me that I could not go back to sleep. Though we ran from the area immediate to the destruction, there wasn’t an overwhelming sense that I could die. I suppose my confusion is as to why this dream was so very scary? Is it the loss of life? My helplessness? The lack of concern? The recklessness in the way people were moving along on the highway? Does this mean deep down I’m a control freak?
